What We Do

PROVIDE COMMUNITY FIRE AND SAFETY EDUCATION: The Irmo Fire Foundation supports the ever-expanding array of community programs aimed at educating the public on fire prevention, personal safety, and disaster preparedness. Recently, Safe Kids South Carolina presented Irmo Fire District with the 2012 Safety Summit Award for “Fitting Station of the Year.” Infant and Child safety seats are installed by certified installer-firefighters at both Headquarters and North Lake stations.

SUPPORT ORGANIZATIONS THAT SERVE AND HONOR FIREFIGHTERS AND OTHER FIRST RESPONDERS: The Irmo Fire Foundation played an integral role in the planning and fund raising for the Midlands First Responders Memorial. Annually, the Foundation supports charities of fallen first responders with its Gone but Not Forgotten benefit run/walk.

PROVIDE ADVANCED TRAINING, TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT UPGRADES: Often, the annual budget cannot fully fund these needs of the District. Firefighter fitness and wellness programs, along with advanced training and equipment, benefit the community.

RECOGNIZE ACHIEVEMENT AND EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO THE IRMO FIRE DISTRICT and THE IRMO FIRE FOUNDATION: The Foundation believes in recognizing the achievements of the District’s Firefighters. Service awards are presented annually for Firefighter of the Year and Rookie Firefighter of the Year. Additionally, Medals may be presented for exemplary service, courage, honor, and valor. Community partners and individuals are also honored for exemplary service.

How You Can Help

Make a contribution. Go to the “Donate” tab to donate now, or if you prefer, download a donation form and mail or drop off with your check.

Become a Foundation Volunteer. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with the Foundation, you must complete an application, in person, at the Headquarters Station on St. Andrews Rd. We’ll match your strengths and your available time with our needs.

Partner With Us. We want to become more visible in our community. Your business or community group can help to get our message out. Your business may provide incentives for donors such as a discount on your goods or services, or sponsorship for a special event. Your community group could sponsor a tour of our facilities or host one of our speakers. Your ideas are always welcome. If you are interested in any of the above, please call 798-1475.

Purchase a reflective number sign for your home, or for a friend or family member. Reflective signs will help first responders find your home more quickly in an emergency. Each sign is $15. Download the order form and mail or drop off with your check. We’ll call you when it’s ready.

Purchase an Irmo Fire District T-shirt. These may be purchased at the Headquarters Station on St Andrews Road. Each shirt is $15, or you may purchase 2 for $25.
