At 4:30 this afternoon, Irmo Fire units were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 100 block of Laurel Branch Way. First arriving crews found heavy fire throughout the house and the attic. With help from Lexington County Fire Service and Columbia Fire Department, the fire was brought under control. Three people were home at the time of the fire and managed to escape with minor injuries. The home was heavily damaged and several sections of the roof collapsed before the fire was completely extinguished. The cause remains under investigation.
