Station Information:
Irmo Fires Childs Street station was opened in 2020 to meet the growth demands in the Town of Irmo. This station is located at 7422 Childs Street in Downtown Irmo and houses Battalion Chief 111 staffed with 1 Battalion Chief and Ladder Company 175 staffed with 1 captain and 3 firefighters. Battalion 111 manages the day-to-day operations of the fire district and acts as the incident commander on large incidents within the fire district. Since opening the Childs Street station runs approximately 1800 calls a year for service. In addition to being a Ladder Company, Ladder 175 is equipped with the latest in vehicle stabilization and auto extrication tools to include airbags, tools, lifting jacks and struts. Ladder 175 has the smallest coverage area by square millage however it is the densest portion of the district. Ladder 175 provides automatic aid to both Columbia/Richland and the Chapin area.
