“A” Shift Crews, along with Lexington County Fire, Columbia Fire, and a dozer from the South Carolina Forestry Commission responded to reports of a large vegetation fire at malfunction junction. One of the large log piles caught fire, sending an impressive plume of smoke into the evening sky. The embers caught an additional acre of ground cover and debris on fire. The incident slowed traffic in all directions as it was quite the spectacle, and the fire was under control by 7:30. The cause is under investigation.
