This evening, Irmo Fire and Lexington County EMS units responded to an entrapment involving a person pinned under a car. The car owner was partially underneath the vehicle while attempting to repair the car in the Auto Zone parking lot when the car slipped off a jack and pinned the owner underneath. Lexington County EMS crews rendered patient care while Irmo Fire crews worked to stabilize the car, then lifted it off the victim. The victim’s arm was entangled under the car, which complicated the rescue. The victim was transported to the hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries. Although this type of incident is rare, we have the tools and training to cope with it and we had the victim freed quickly.
