Three members from Irmo Fire attended Lexington County Fire Service‘s Swift Water Rescue Certification Course this week and achieved the level of Swift Water Technician. Throughout the 5-day course, personnel learned skills ranging from shore-based rope throws, boat-based rescues, and entering into level 2/3 rapids untethered to make hands on victim rescues. Each of these operations took place in 52 degree water temperatures with air temperatures ranging from low 40’s to mid 70’s!
Multi jurisdiction trainings like this help to ensure not only operational readiness amongst jurisdictional lines, but also the safety of the citizens of Irmo and all who live and travel through the Midlands.
