Today is the two year anniversary of losing one of our own in a structure fire. Our collective journeys with grief, loss and mental health have taught us the incredible value of honoring each other, something we often overlook in the service of others. So today we did a thing. Our friends at Lexington County Fire Service covered our stations this afternoon so that we could gather as much of the Irmo Fire family as possible for a picnic and some much needed togetherness. We’ve been through a lot these past two years, but we’re still here, we’re still a close knit group, and we still love doing what we do.
None of that would be possible without the friends, wives, girlfriends, husbands, boyfriends, moms, dads, sons and daughters and pets that love us, support us, and are on this journey with us. We also draw strength from the amazing support of the community we serve, and for that we are most grateful. It’s good to be us.
