IFD Sends Two to Swiftwater Rescue Technician Program

Last week, two members of our team pushed their skills to the next level and completed a Swiftwater Rescue Technician course with Lexington County Fire Service. Over five intensive days, they trained in both day and night operations, tackling entanglement scenarios, shallow water entry techniques, and hands-on rescue work in Class II and III rapids. The course combined classroom instruction with live training exercises at multiple locations along the Saluda River and Lake Murray, all while water temperatures hovered around 55 degrees. Multi jurisdictional trainings like this help to ensure not only operational readiness amongst jurisdictional lines, but also the safety of the citizens of both Lexington and Richland Counties as well as all who travel through the area. Thank you to Lexington County Fire Service for hosting this class and inviting us out!
